McGraw Brewery Beer Bottles

The J.C. McGraw Brewery was close to the McGraw/Doran boardinghouse. Both bottles were found in the boardinghouse privy, probably discarded there by boarders. The backs of these bottles announce, "This bottle not to be sold," and, "This bottle never sold."

Mustard Bottle From USS Monitor

Several of these mustard bottles were discovered near the ship's galley, and one was found in the sediment near the ship. Starting in 1818 each sailor was allowed to buy two pounds of mustard and one quarter pound of pepper from the purser each year.
