The Pony Express took on a new and richly embroidered life when interpreted decades after its end (1861) by people such as entrepreneur William Cody in his "Buffalo Bill's Wild West and Congress of Rough Ri9ders of the World," a popular traveling show that featured a courageous Express rider chased by hostile Indians.
