Half portrait of a soldier Harvey Hersey from Calis Vermont. Hersey was a Chaplain in the Seventeenth Maine from August 23, 1862 to 1/28/63 when he was discharged for disability. Identified at bottom in pencil. Is wearing wide-brimmed hat with First Corps badge on hat. He is wearing and overcoat and his frock coat is clasped with a cloth band. Shirt might be plaid.
