The card has been cut at the top and bottom and the print is crudely mounted on the card. The image is John Hunter in civilian clothes (coat and vest) with chin wiskers (not full beard as in other photographs). Hunter is seated with his right hand resting on his right thigh and left arm resting on a cloth covered table. The reverse side is inscribed and marked with the studio name. Appearing along the top edge, is the remainder (bottom) of a signature in ink: "John Hunter/Boatswains Mate/U.S.S. "Constellation". 1 3/8" from the top and centered on the card is the studio information which reads "BARDOU & FIGLIO/Fotografi/STRADA LUCCOLI No 34 PIANO 3/GENOVA"
