Sideboard

Date:
C. 1790

Maryland sideboard of the Federal period (1790-1810) are among the finest examples of American furniture of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The fine inlaid decoration and choice of richly grained veneers produce a superb example of a furniture form that came into general use at the end of the 18th century when dining rooms made their appearance in domestic architecture. The previous owners of this sideboard found it stored in a chicken house on Kent Island.
