Wrist Irons

Cairo Commander, Thomas O. Selfridge was a very strict disciplinarian. Leg and wrist irons were used on prisoners and on crew. If a crewman was found to be drunk and disorderly, or if he uttered a curse word, he was placed in irons and put below deck as punishment.
