Three quarter portrait of Charles H. Richardson, who was attached to the Sixth Massachusetts and later the Twenty-sixth Massachusetts. Photo taken while Sergeant of the Twenty-Sixth Massachusetts. Image taken in Lowell Massachusetts. The Twenty-sixth served early in the War in the Western theater mainly on the Mississippi, moved to New Orleans. Then moved to Fortress Monroe and the Bermuda Hundred. Later served in Washington D. C., Sheridan's Shenandoah Campaign in 1864 and ultimately finished the war at Washington D. C. and Savannah Georgia. Shipped to Boston in September of 1865 to be mustered out. This photo was probably taken in September 1865.
