Diorama Of The Assault On The Breymann Redoubt

"Thus scene from October 7, 1777 shows overwhelming waves of American soldiers, encouraged on by Gen. Benedict Arnold, attacking this important German fort. The U.S. forces easily captured Breymann Redoubt and won the battle. Ironically, only days before the battle, a German officer stationed in the fort wrote in a letter, ""The enemy is losing hope, and may retreat again. We are in a strong position that the rebels dare not attack. Our post is at the right end of the camp.

Diorama Of Col. Morgan Gathering His Scattered Riflemen

"During the Battle of Freeman's Farm at Saratoga, Col. Daniel Morgan used a turkey call to reform his broken Virginia and Pennsylvania riflement after a disastrous skirmish with British troops. ""…my ears were saluted by an uncommon noise, which I approached, and perceived Colonel Morgan attended by two men only, who with a turkey call, was collecting his dispersed troops,"" wrote Lt. Col. Flints For Firearms

1770s

18th-century firearms used sharpened flint to create sparks that ignited gunpowder which fired the gun. These three flints were found at the 21st Royal North British Fusiliers (Royal Scots Fusiliers) encampment site on the Saratoga battlefield and at the surrender field in Schuylerville.
