Content Description: 

Originally known as Baxter's Philadelphia Fire Zouaves, Private Shuster's regiment, the 72nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, came from Philadelphia's volunteer fire companies. All Zouave regiments, both Union and Confederate, were modeled after the famed French Corps of Zouaves. Their colorful uniforms and superb drill routines earned them a reputation before they ever saw battle action.
