Bass, Washtub. Or Gut-bucket. African version of washtub bass, a musical instrument. An aluminum washtub with loop inserted in center of bottom, painted red with black band at center side and yellow zigzag pattern and unpainted bottom and insides. Black nylon cord tied to loop at one end and at top of pole at other end. Pole is painted black with three red bands alternating with two yellow boards; bottom end of pole is notched and is wrapped with wire.
