This armored tractor was designed by Benjamin Holt as a prime mover for heavy artillery, principally the 4.7-inch gun up to the 155mm gun. The tractor had a normal speed of just over four miles per hour but could pull up to twelve tons over rugged terrain. The attached Ordnance trailer was designed to carry one gun and limber to two caissons. When this tractor was acquired in 1982, it was still in use in a logging camp in Washington. The 3-ton Ordnance tractor was designed to carry one gun and limber, saving wear on the artillery pieces.
