Content Description:
Jet black, with no striping, this Berlin of about 1860 was the property of Simon Cameron when he was Secretary of War during Lincoln's first administration. It is typical of the subdued elegance employed by the very wealthy in their choice of conveyance and appearance during the latter half of the 19th century. Such a vehicle needed no trimmings to tell one and all that its owner was a man of importance.
