Stocked in plain walnut showing large part of original finish. typical iron frame with scroll engraving. Bluing of barrel group may be original. Between the bores is stamped "ALLEN THURBER & CO./WORCESTER, MASS." and "PATENTED April 18, 1845". The inside of the trigger guard carries the serial # 263 and the # 1 in another place. These numbers also appear on the nipples. Mahogany case 8 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 1 7/8" lined in red velvet. Contains panel flask (4 3/4" overall), small bullet mold (marked 49.1.126) a cap box of the old style, colored with asphalt varnish & labeled "100/PERCUSSION CAPS/No. 10/A.H./QUALITY", and powder flask. Nice example of a cased percussion pepperbox, the gun and its accoutrements being in unusually good shape. With repair of barrels could probably be used for firing for demonstration purposes.
