This portrait of Catharine of Aragon (1485-1536), the first wife of Henry VIII and later wife to Arthur, Prince of Wales, is accompanied by a biographical treatise. Catharine also served as the first ambassador in European history when she was appointed ambassador to the Spanish court. The engraving is from the series "Heads of Illustrious Persons of Great Britain" by Thomas Birch.
