Cincinnati Observatory Center
The Cincinnati Observatory was founded by Ormsby McKnight Mitchel, who, as a Professor at Cincinnati College in 1842, generated public enthusiasm for astronomy through a series of public lectures. The Cincinnati Observatory Center was first formed in 1997 as a volunteer committee dedicated to revitalizing and preserving the Cincinnati Observatory and its historic setting.
