All steel screw barrel flintlock coaching pistol made by B. Griffin, a London gunmaker, 1739-1773. Engraved grip and lock plate; latter marked"GRIFFIN" in a banner. A handsome and powerful weapon intended for hard service, this might well have been owned by an American gentleman. It is unusual to see an all-metal pistol not made for the Scottish trade. Frizzen screw a replacement. No proof marks at all.
