A large, irregular block or brick made of coquina. The top, bottom and one side have been smoothed and evened. The smooth side also has been whitewashed. The ends are uneven, broken, the other side has a cement mortar. Coquina is naturally occurring, the shellfish remnants are brought together by time, pressure, and weather. Coquina blocks are formed by cutting and shaping them while the sediment is still soft and letting them harden in direct sunlight.
