Content Description: 

Chair. Ladder back chair with turned wood legs and back posts. Four curved back slats, cut away upper corners, single rung in back, others are double. Woven twisted cornhusk? (woven rush?) seat may be original. Slats have been split directly from log; all other parts have also been formed directly from the log with no sawing involved. Made from green wood that seasoned after chair was finished. Piece may have been made by a slave or a neighbor who sold it for money.
