Date:Early 19th Century
American quilted coverlet of 64 blocks of alternating block-printed floral chintz and undyed cotton homespun, backed in linen. The chintz squares have a beige ground with pink, blue, and light brown floral designs with black outline accents, except for one similar but not matching block (also used to enlarge the square directly next to it ) with a pink, blue, and cream design having faded black or dark brown outlines. The coverlet has an attached border with a discolored white ground and a stylized floral print in pink and blue. The object was quilted after it was assembled in a series of arch patterns.
