Buff colored unfulled wool underdrawers of full length, designed to wear beneath lightweight linen uniform trousers. Each leg is assembled from three full length pieces; there is a waist band and, at the rear, a two part yoke. The inseams of the legs are slashed for a distance of six inches and bound with cotton tape as are the bottoms of the legs. Two four-hole buttons fasten the waistband; there is no provision for securing the fly. Seat and crouch have been extensively patched and mended. John Minot Fiske of Chelmsford, Charlestown & Boston entered state service on 16 Mar. 1818 as a lieutenant in the 5th Reg't, 1st Brig. 3rd Div of Mass Militia. Fiske attained the rank of colonel on 16 Aug. 1824 and resigned his commission on 10 Aug. 1831.
