Content Description: 

The hilt is cast, chased and pierced with trophies, bearing 1762 London hallmark and maker's mark of Joseph Clare. The blade is parcel-gilt, etched with trophies and the French motto-"Ne me tire pas sans raison. Ne me remette point sans honneur."(sic) (Do not draw me without cause, do no sheath me without honor.)
