This is a turquoise and white Filipino lantern called a parol. The lantern is a 5-pointed star with 2 hanging tails that are attached to the bottom points. The wooden structure is covered with turquoise colored tissue paper and trimmed with a white tissue paper fringe. There is space inside the star to hold a small light, such as a candle. Parols are hung in windows during Christmas in Filipino homes. The tails are also turquoise and white.
