Handbill: 'The Literary Guillotine' White handbill. Front has illustration of crowd standing around platform supporting a guillotine, and executioner stands by. Title at top of illustration. Title also on back amidst commentaries and specutations as to origin of the 'Guillotine.' All printing and illustration on handbill in orange ink. Handbill pressed between two pieces of glass, cut to accomodate handbill and label. Glass pieced together with black binding tape. LABEL Label at top of Guillotine inside glass: 'Mr. Gabriel Engel of New York who sent this handbill says '- The `Literary Guillotine' handbill is a RARE little curio reminding the beholder of one of the TWAIN hoaxes perpetuated about forty years ago in the cause of increasing sales for a book which he had nothing to do.''
