Content Description: 

Revolver, Kerr Patent, serial number 9166 made by the London Armory Co. Large revolver with an octagonal barrel, five chamber cylinder, large trigger guard, percussion hammer attached to right side,checked wood grip (one piece) and lanyard ring attached to butt of grip. Wood and metal have dark patina. Barrel is .44 or .45 caliber. This example is one of the Kerr revolvers that has "J. S." and an anchor symbol stamped faintly on the wood grip below the trigger guard. (This is considered a Confederate inspector's stamp.)
