Content Description: 

Oil-on-canvas painting titled "Lady in White" by an unknown English artist in the circle of Andrea Soldi. Painting is a standing, three-quarter length portrait of a brown eyed, brunette woman, her hair dressed with with three rows of pearls. She wears a white satin dress (robe a l'anglaise) draped from behind with rust silk with a bouquet of roses and yellow flowers tied with blue ribbon at top of the stomacher. The dress is ornamented with lace, pearls and jewels. The sitter leans on her left arm on a ledge which is also draped in rust silk, and holds two red roses and a rose bud in her right hand. The lady has been known as "Mrs. William Wright" at Dumbarton House since 1988. Research pending.
