Content Description: 

Table. Pedestal or Parlor Table. Colored woods marquetry veneer decoration. Checkerboard pattern on top. Tripod legs with tiny scroll feet. Legs dovetail into the turned center column. Bottom of column has 3 sets of numbers stamped into wood. Each leg has corresponding number. Legs have square profiles top to bottom and curvilinear cutout sides. Chevron marquetry veneer at leg top edge. Two areas of center column have marquetry veneer. Table top has round skirt with double stretcher type braces underneath and veneer on outside surfaces. Single row of thin banded veneer in contrasting wood near bottom of skirt. Outside edge of table top completely covered in marquetry veneer in a repeating diagonal pattern of different colored woods. Table top has incised veneer in form of a checkerboard with decorative triangles, two circular banded marquetry borders. MFH Curator says pieces like this were still being made in the 1950s in SE Asia.
