Gown, Evening, Woman's. Worn by Mary Alice Holland, Wife of U. S. Senator (and former Florida Governor) Spessard L. Holland in mid 1960s in Washington, DC area. Made of synthetic knit material with an ivory background and striking polychrome pattern of diamonds, wide stripes and medallions. Sleeveless bodice with a V-neck and shawl effect pattern extending from back over shoulders culminating in two gold braid medallions that are decorated with faux pearls and jewels. Gold braid bow with long streamers attached to center bottom of medallions at the high front waist. 22 1/2" back nylon zipper. Very full skirt bound at hem with tape. Bodice lined with ivory nylon.
