Pistol. U. S. Single Shot Military Pistol, Model 1836, dated 1844, converted from flintlock to percussion. Large pistol with a round barrel with an attached swivel mounted ramrod. Walnut stock with steel lockplate and large percussion hammer on right side. Large flared trigger guard. Grip is formed as the stock curves downward to end with a rounded metal butt with a screw in center. Barrel is .54 caliber. Brass area filled in where powder pan was in old flintlock.
