Sword. Model 1840 U.S. noncommissioned Officer's Sword, dated 1864. Solid brass counterguard, handguard, and grip. Counterguard is kidney shaped on each side of blade. Handguard is a reverse C shape. Pommel is basically round with a hemisphere shaped cap. Handgrip is solid brass, but has an imitation wire wrapped surface. Blade is straight with fuller running almost the entire length. Blade is single edged with a spear point. Has scabbard which is in pieces.
