Content Description:
Mortar. Civil War Period mortar with mount. U. S. 8" siege and garrison mortar, Model 1841. Short heavy iron tube with 8" diameter bore. Base of tube formed into two trunnions which sit in the iron mount. Mount is all iron with four protruding bars on sides. Front of mount has stepped edges while back edges are sloped. Mount is without the trunnion plates to cover the trunnions.
