The New Orleans Times from March 17, 1865 - Eight Page Folio. "Kingston to be Evacuated" describes the capture of a series of North Carolina cities. The New Orleans times goes on to report that negroes are terrified at the prospect of being forced into Confederate service and would rather fight for the North. Also reports that they can hardly wait for General Sherman to rescue them. Reports that Sherman is being welcomed by some North Carolinians with open arms and that roads are clear and Grant can now focus on Richmond.
