Painted Militia Knapsack

Content Description: 

Painted militia knapsack with full-length cover flap, woven shoulder straps and connecting breast strap. Cover only is painted a pale grayed blue. Border is accented in orange and inscription is also in orange. Inscription reads: "Bolton/1st Regtt/2d. Brig./7th Div." Cover flap secures with two leather straps and small pewter or white metal buckles. The numerical designation painted on the cover suggests an enrolled rather than a volunteer company.
