Pimeria Alta Museum

Pimeria Alta Museum

Fray Marcos de Niza first entered the Santa Cruz Valley in 1539, well before the first American settlement at Jamestown or the landing of the Mayflower.

The Pimeria Alta Historical Society provides an array of services, stories, images and events that relate to the glorious and long history of the region, including its history after the Spaniard, Father Kino, named it in 1691.  Members enjoy dinners, tours, lectures, special exhibits, receptions and just plain history get-togethers among our history happenings. People join us not to get just a few tid-bits about history, or explore our extensive archives, but to get together with other people and enjoy and share the rich and remarkable human story in a place that has been part of Spain, Mexico and the United States………the Pimería Alta. For prospective casual visitors who don't want to join the historical society, the Pimeria Alta Museum offers an extensive collection relating to local and Mexican history.
