The plaque consists of a brass (?) plate cut into the shape of the state of North Carolina with the text engraved into it in several sizes of a condensed serif typeface in large and small caps. The metal cutout is screwed onto a larger piece of walnut also cut into the shape of the state. Two metal loops screwed to the back hold a short length of metal chain for hanging the plaque.
