Content Description: 

Painting, oil. A large portrait that depicts a 18th Century gentleman (one of Florida's British colonial governors) from the waist up. He is wearing a black uniform coat, a white vest, both trimmed in gold braid, the cuffs are ruffled, white, sheer material. He faces diagonally right, bald on the top of his head with a semicircular fringe of brown hair. He is stout with a full, flushed face, dark eyes, full lips. He holds his hands in front of him with his right forefinger tip against the tip of his extended left thumb. The lining and stretchers appear to date later than painting and modern frame is mid-to-late 20th century.
