Red and Blue Infantry Enlisted Man's Coat

Content Description: 

This red and blue military coat was probably the dress coat of a private in a volunteer militia comapny. It is cut short in front with tails in the back; the edges of the tails come together and are lined with red. There are two buttons at the waistline and one on each tail. It has a high neck and buttons down the front with nine buttons. The sleeve ends with three buttons and red piping 5" from edge. It hs one pocket on the left side, and the front of the jacket is padded heavily. Metallic braid is on the collar. Buttons are brass with an eagle insignia. It is marked inside in ink with probable owner's name, "S.C. Parsons."
