Content Description:
A cornmeal sifting basket is made of rush splints, starting with a base of open-weave, of narrow splints. Open weave base is 9 inches squared. Larger splints are used to raise the sides of the basket, with narrow splints making a diagonal pattern. The edge is wrapped with the wider splints over a bundle of reeds. For stability the base is made with 4 square corners 1 1/2 inch from stiff edge.
