Content Description: 

Desk made in the shop of John Shaw for use by the president of the Maryland Senate. The initials of journeyman cabinetmaker, William Tuck, are written on the Shaw label pasted on the interior. This desk was used in the Senate Chamber from 1797-c. 1838.

mahogany, mahogany veneers, and dark and light wood inlay with tulip poplar D:22.5x36 3/8 W x 37 3/4H
