Content Description: 

Silver Infantry company grade Officer's epaulette. Silk lining is missing from underside of board and from part of padding. White silk lining survives on box. Top of board is covered with silver metalic brocade. Border of board is edged with twisted metallic braid in a C. Silver bullion tassels. Found with military cap #49.22.7 which is distinctly of a decade or more later in time, this epaulette is of a fine quality characteristic of those examples generally considered to be of French or English origin.

Physical Description: 

Silk, silver, wood. Greatest overall length 6 1/4" (15.8cm); bullion length 3 5/8" (9.2cm), greatest width 4" (10.2cm)
