Large, framed original salt photograph. Shows Surgeon Samuel Everett, 7th IL seated, wearing double breasted frock with a kepi on his lap. Kepi has visible "MS" Medical Staff insignia. White matting around photo gives it an oval shape. Photo fading. Surgeon Everett Surgeon 7th IL Infantry April 29, 1861. Honorable muster out July 29, 1861; Surg. 10th IL Inf July 31, 1861; Brigade Surgeon of USV, Sept. 14, 1861. Killed in action at Shiloh on April 6, 1862. First Union Medical Officer killed in battle.
