Painting, Watercolor. From Uncle Monday and Other Florida Folk Tales, this painting illustrates The Witch (see 2003M.011.043) and shows a moonlit night scene of four small African American children and one older girl on mattresses on floor or crouched fearfully in open doorway. A childlike, but menacing African American ghost floats toward them, fingers extending and grimacing. A lamp is on the floor with a cat beside it.
