SINGLE-BREASTED, 7 BUTTON FRONT (4 VIRGINIA SEAL BUTTONS REMAINING, TOP 3 MISSING); BROWNISH-GRAY WOOL; BLACK VELVET COLLAR WITH 3 BRASS STARS AFFIXED ON EACH SIDE. MAIN LINING IS BLACK SATEEN MATERIAL; SLEEVES LINED WITH WHITE MUSLIN. COL. GIBBONS ALLEGEDLY KILLED IN THIS COAT ON MAY 8, 1862 (BATTLE OF MCDOWELL)
