Before serving as the 40th president of the Naval War College, Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale was a prisoner-of-war in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his service, and later ran with H. Ross Perot in the 1992 Presidential Election.
