Content Description: 

A scarlet wool militia coat, trimmed in blue, with natural linen lining, except in sleeves which have wristers. The silver buttons marked "treble plated" are 3 on cuffs, 8 on collar, 10 on front, 10 and 9 (1 missing) on "pockets" and 14 on tails. Small brass buttons on epaulets are apparently replacements. 10 tiers of brass braid on front. Four interior pockets including a 10 1/2" long narrow one, possibly for a fife, thus indicating possible use as a musician's coat, as also indicated by red color, common for American musicians.
