  • First UN General Assembly meeting

    The United Nations General Assembly meets for the first time at the Westminster Central Hall in London. 51 nations attended the meetings, after ratified the United Nations Charter.

  • Common Sense published

    Common Sense is published anonymously in the American colonies. Written by Englishman Thomas Paine, it proposed the idea of colonial independence from British rule. It became the best-selling per capita publication in American history.
