This lithograph depicts a young Andrew Jackson following his victory over the British at the Battle of New Orleans. The battle, which took place two weeks after the official end of the War of 1812 (news that the Treaty of Ghent had been signed had not yet reached Jackson), vaulted the Major General to immense popularity.
