Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks is born Rosa McCauley in Tuskegee, Alabama. A member of the NAACP, Parks was arrested on December 1, 1955 after she refused to leave her seat for a white man. Her arrest spurred the Montgomery Bus Boycott, where thousands of African-Americans refused to ride the segregated buses in Montgomery, Alabama.
