Social Security: How The Trouble Began

In short, Social Security will survive, doomsayers notwithstanding. The system is too tightly woven into our national fabric to be removed without catastrophic damage. Its financial ills, though serious, can and will be cured, in ways that enable the system not only to continue but also to expand its coverage, correct its inequities, and increase its benefits.
