  • Fortification of Dorchester Heights

    General George Washington oversees the fortification of Dorchester Heights in south Boston as Continental soldiers install heavy gun batteries and fortifications. By controlling the high ground above the British forces stationed in Boston, the Americans secured their first victory as the British evacuated Boston on March 17.
