Attracting over 800 followers, Shays' Rebellion lasts for the better part of one year, demonstrating the ineffectiveness of the central government.
Congress passes the Jones Act, better known as the Philippine Autonomy Act of 1916. It replaced the previous Filipino constitution, created an elected, bicameral Filipino legislature, and pledged eventual Filipino independence.
